Rayuela 3 Metals Stool

Alvaro Catalan de Ocon

Design by Alvaro Catalan de Ocon

Rayuela 3 Metals Stool is inspired by traditional tile designs. These can spread infinitely by just repeating a single shape, creating patterns by combining different colors of the same material. Rhombus is the most efficient form, a four-sided shape with endless possibilities. When you put three of them together you get a hexagon, which makes the perfect stool seat. These are the main principles behind this product: making a stool from a single basic piece, repeated three times. In this way, many stools can create infinite patterns and material combinations.

“Rayuela” is a term with different connotations: it can describe a children’s game, painted on the floor, or a tile. The stool’s name also references Julio Cortazar’s novel, which broke the traditional book structure and orderly way of reading. There is no established order other than the reader’s choice. Similarly, the stool has no determined form; it only depends on every person’s preferences and use.
