Gent lounge chair
Gent lounge chair by Aline Asmar d’Amman, portrays a sharp and angular metallic shell shielding the soft upholstered curves of the rotating ‘Gent’ lounge chairs. Painted in a sfumato of metallic gleams, evoking a streamlined car body, the glossy structure is partly reminiscent of a nocturnal abstraction in reference to Hiroshi Sugimoto’s monochrome ‘Seascapes’ and the power suit of the iconic Wonder-woman character. Somewhere between bionic graft and retro silhouette, the chairs swivel and reveal a play of sliding materials and reflections, from luxurious velvety shine to a gradient of varnished metal in a variety of abstract sunset shades. With their rock ‘n’ roll yet subtly retro allure, the ‘Gent’ lounge chairs evoke night’s many moods. Playful and dramatic, they bring life to the space and invoke a modernist timeless elegance, conducive to celebration. The metal shells, custom painted with art direction by Culture in Architecture, are crafted by Pouenat, using a distinctive pigmentation process that gives each chair an artistic dimension as of a unique piece. The impeccable upholstery by Les Ateliers Philippe Coudray, ensures an optimal comfort and an elegant posture. The ‘Gent’ armchairs are available in three shades of sfumato on metal and their matching plain velvet: metallic grey-black sfumato, or grey-blue sfumato on aluminum varnished sheet; and golden-pink sfumato on brass varnished sheet, respectively coordinated with their matching shades of velvet, naturally capturing the changing light.
