ANOTHERVIEW N.27 – Under a sicilian sun in Cefalù

Cefalù stands as a remarkable fishing village nestled near Palermo, gracing the northern shores of Sicily. It conceals some of the region’s most exquisite beaches and boasts a trove of captivating sites that demand exploration during your journey. Its extraordinary allure earned UNESCO recognition, enshrining the Cathedral, the Cloister, the Seminary, and Palazzo Vescovile as esteemed ‘World Heritage Sites. In the summertime, a multitude of tourists flock to this picturesque town ensconced within stone, revered as one of Italy’s most stunning ‘borghi.’ Our path led us through Cefalù en route to Palazzolo Acreide, where we planned to film the festival dedicated to Saint Sebastian. Amidst the midsummer heat, the sun soared, bathing the beaches in vibrant hues and enlivening them with the presence of predominantly Sicilian families. It was a rich tapestry of colors, resonating voices, and melodic tunes. The town’s allure left us enchanted, positioned majestically along the beach, with the imposing silhouette of the Cefalù rock presiding over the picturesque landscape. Prompted by this captivating vista, we halted our journey, aiming to capture this quintessential Italian summer scene. With the gracious assistance of Concetta, self-proclaimed ‘manager’ of the town’s petite beach, we secured 24 hours on the small dock facing the beach and the city, documenting a day brimming with energy and jubilance in the life of this remarkable Sicilian town. More recently, Cefalù garnered heightened attention due to its appearance in the renowned TV series ‘White Lotus,’ where several scenes from its second season were filmed, further amplifying the allure of this extraordinary place.”
