Honey coffee table
“HONEY”, the result of the collaboration between Azimut Design and Marco Lavit.
HONEY is the union between two materials of opposite nature; the fossilization of a technical element, extremely resistant and at the same time fragile, thanks to the material density of the resin. The aluminum honeycomb, designed to resist compression, is fragile as a leaf when handled. The collaboration between the two materials is therefore necessary, the first ensures a structural texture to the whole, allowing processing in slabs tapered at the edges. The second, however, makes a structure that is otherwise fragile to the touch perennial. The chromatic shades of the resin, combined with the metallic reflections of the aluminium, give life to a dynamic and moving material, vibrant to the eye. The collection is born from the juxtaposition and interlocking of the slabs, as a spontaneous and immediate gesture: coffee table, dining and meeting table and a column bookcase to separate or unite the spaces. The honeycomb is known for its unique hexagonal cell structure, which offers incredible strength while maintaining a light weight. This element is commonly used in many fields, from aeronautics to engineering, for its ability to provide a unique combination of strength and lightness. However, through the creativity of Azimut Design and Marco Lavit, the honeycomb gets a new life as an essential component in the world of furniture, melting harmoniously with resin to create accessories that evoke futuristic honeycomb-like structures.
