”The Present” is an object composed by three areas: an outer ring of transparent glass, an inner dark-shaded ring and a central part which consists of a mirrored glass. Thanks to its composition, the object can create the visual illusion of an opening in the wall where it is installed, which does not permit seeing through the wall. Instead, it reflects the image as if it were a mirror. The artwork represents a small “white hole,” a hypothetical region of space-time that cannot be entered from the outside, and from which energy-matter can only exit.
