Gothic passage
Kiko Lopez’ Gothic Passage, inspired by Gallo-Roman architecture, is composed of six glass “windowpanes” that create an imaginary passage. Like much of Lopez’ work, the mirrors both recede into the architecture and extend into the room. Floating 4 cm in front of the wall, the waves in the glass appear as if on waters’ surface, creating intriguing abstract patterns and transforming flat glass plates into 3D sculpture. Lopez’ artistic practice updates his encyclopedic know-how of ancient glassmaking techniques to produce objects of wonder for a contemporary audience seeking modern beauty and intellectual depth.
