Crisis Low Armchair
Entirely made of plywood, the Crisis Chair is an original design by Piet Hein Eek. Since plywood is not strong enough to make long thin legs, large pieces of this material make up the sides. These large surfaces give the Crisis low armchair its own unique character; allowing for the possibility to work with bold colors.
The collection owes its name to the first crisis Piet experienced as an established company, which lasted from 2001 until 2002. Luckily, everything turned out to be fine. To celebrate, the company bought a computer-operated milling cutter. The first products the designer made with this machine was the Crisis furniture range. “It seems that every time a crisis looms, sales of the entire crisis collection start picking up” said Piet Hein Eek.
