Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd
Now an emblem for The Non-Violence Project, the carpet design was developed in close collaboration and partnership with the non-profit organisation Non-Violence Project Foundation (NVP). The sculpture was originally created by Reuterswärd as a memorial tribute to his friend
John Lennon after he was shot dead in New York City in 1980. The NVP is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to inspire, motivate and engage people on how to resolve conflicts peacefully.
It works diligently on violence prevention and non-violence education with dedicated programmes for schools and sports clubs around the world. Its logo is the iconic knotted gun sculpture called Non-Violence. It has educated eight million students, teachers and sports coaches with programmes covering three main subjects: conflict management, building self-esteem and non-violence. Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Star and Yoko Ono are, among others, ambassadors of the Non-Violence Project.
Our collaboration with The Non-Violence Project is an extension of our ongoing Collaborations with some of the world’s leading contemporary artists or Foundations dedicated to them. We are proud to align ourselves The Non-Violence Project and contribute to their message of peace around the world.
