New Tree Trunk Chair

The New Tree Trunk Table Chair is the result of a determination to not throw anything away. Taking the material as it is and assigning it a major role in the final product is often the starting point for Piet Hein Eek’s designs. Planks have the size and shape they had when they arrived from the sawmill. The unusual split on the backrest actually achieves the desired seating comfort. The back legs of the chair can be made only using wooden pieces that are bent in a specific way. Just as in the past, where the ribs of a boat or the rafters of a roof were made from selected trees. This process make every chair a finely crafted and exquisitely assembled piece.
