Pankalangu is a mythological creatures that frequents the Western Arrernte country. He is a territorial being that lives in the scrub and is capable of completely camouflaging himself in the desert. According to the legend, Pankalangu can only move with the rain. He becomes visible when water droplets fall over his body, consequently defining his form. The Pankalangu Cabinet encapsulates the scale of this imaginary creature. Glistening scales made from Queensland walnut and copper adorn and enrich its structure.
