Equilibrium Space Divider

The Equilibrium Space Divider is an elegant and minimal design. Its main feature is the extreme thinness of the aluminium sheets. By pushing the material to the limit, the construction allows these elements to reach the minimum thickness of 1.5 mm. A single stainless steel cable adds tensions and holds the sheets in position.

Sheets become structural due to the forces resulting from their bending. The overall stability further increases thanks to the compenetration of the mirrored curves. The partial overlapping of these elements creates an inner space which lets light go through, influencing the visual perception of the object. The lightless of the structure contrasts the massive scale of its emptied volumes, which confers a monumental quality to the piece, highlighted by the black waxed sanded aluminium finish.
