PHE-09 Beams Heads Scrapwood Wallpaper is a part of Scrapwood Collection by NLXL based on a “Waste” furniture collection by Piet Hein Eek. It includes new elements like beams, cross wood and plank sides. Piet Hein Eek developed a vision on recycling long before it came into fashion.
Piet Hein Eek: “I wanted to show that products that aren’t perfect still can appeal to our sense of aesthetic and functionality. I also wanted to design a product that could be made with limited means, material that was abundant. The combination of uncommon material and also uncommon, but simple methods of working became the thread through our work.”
Rick Vintage: “Scrapwood Wallpaper is a perfect example of the ‘Piet Hein Eek’ way of working, it is simply putting planks to paper. The effect is astonishing, the quality is so high that you could fool anyone in to thinking it is real. People just love it. If it puts a smile on people’s faces then you really have a great product.”
The Scrapwood Wallpaper has won the ICFF New York Editors Award in 2011. It has been featured in The New York Times, Daily News, Country Living, Shelterpop, Remodelista, Core77, Cup of Jo, DesignBoom, HypeBeast, Design*sponge, etc.
