This Low Table is a part of Shaping Colour collection, presented by Germans Ermics during Salone del mobile 2016 at Galleria Rossana Orlandi. In the realm of production of objects the phase of colour application is normally seen as the final act of productio process.
Instead of finishing a product by just painting it, Germans Ermics started from colour, wondering about what would it look like if he stretchs, turns or folds the colour as if it was a three-dimensional shape. That’s how started the collection Shaping Color.
Germans Ermics wanted to treat the colour in a completely different way. The colour becomes the element that generates the meaning of the form, transforming the pure geometry of material into an expressive object.
In his work Germans Ermičs is exploring the subject of his fascination with glass and mirrors, experimenting and researching materials.
Colours take on enormous proportions in his works, to the point where the materials they’re applied to either seem more exciting than they ever have before, or disappear entirely in the viewer’s consciousness.
