Ile Rodrigues low table in coral stone
Designed by Francesco Maria Messina
The Rising Ocean collection aims to create awareness about the global issue and to warn that some of the Islands of the Mauritian archipelago are already experiencing severe disasters linked to coral barrier reef death, coastal erosion and more violent cyclones in the recent years.
The low tables Ile Rodrigues is made of natural coral stone, and tempered glass tops are designed to recall the shapes of the island. The peaks that are above the table represent the higher mountains – Mont Limon and Mont Malartic that would be virtually the only “survivors” torising ocean waters…
The tables aim to create a strong contrast between the clear, transparent wet-looking glass top and the rough coral stone. Also, the glass tops that represent the ocean surface appear to be floating.
